Colour Acrylic Sheet

It’s time for something a little different, Acrylic is a plastic material that can be used for many purposes. It provides a cost effective, durable material that can be fashioned into a variety of shapes and sizes, although acrylic sheets are the most popular form. This is because acrylic sheets can be turned into windows, retail displays, and even aquariums–all while providing better impact strength and a higher level of optical clarity than glass!artistic and functional. Plain splash backs are a thing of the past now with the introduction of the latest digital high resolution printing technologies that allow us to print imagery onto any glass surface for our clients and customers. We use the same high quality materials, beautifully cut and tailor finished to order then use the digital printing machinery we will imprint your chosen image onto the surface.

Acrylic is an incredibly useful plastic for applications requiring transparency where high impact resistance is not an issue. It can be cut into extremely fine shapes using laser cutting technology because the material vaporizes upon impact with the concentrated laser energy. Acrylic thermoplastics are known for their outstanding weather ability. They are also characterized by good impact strength, formability, and excellent resistance to sunlight, weather, and most chemicals. Standard grades are rated as slow burning, but a special self-extinguishing grade of sheet is available. Although acrylic plastic weighs less than half as much as glass, it has many times greater impact resistance. As a thermal insulator, it is approximately 20% better than glass. It is tasteless and odourless.

The quality of our sheets makes them a favorite of many clients, who can further use the acrylic sheets for both commercials as well as domestic purposes.

Acrylic is generally used for a variety of applications that typically take advantage of its natural transparency and the impact resistance of certain variants. Common uses include lenses, acrylic nails, paint, security barriers, medical devices, LCD screens, and furniture. It is also often used for tanks, Industrial window glazing, safety shields, inspection windows, machine covers, and enclosures around exhibits. In merchandising, acrylic sheet has become the major sign material for internally lighted faces and letters, particularly for outdoor use where resistance to sunlight and weathering is important.

In addition, acrylics are used for counter dividers, display fixtures and cases, transparent demonstration models of household appliances and industrial machines, and vending machine cases. The ability of acrylics to resist breakage and corrosion, and to transmit and diffuse light efficiently has led to many industrial and architectural applications. Acrylics are employed to good advantage as the diffusing medium in lighting fixtures and large luminous ceiling areas. Dome skylights formed from acrylic sheet are an increasingly popular means of admitting daylight to industrial, commercial, and public buildings and even to private homes.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are three-dimensional or 3D logo signs?

3D letters and/or 3D logos are made of plastic, metal or foam. They reinforce an upscale image and create a clear highlighted message. These signs can be illuminated when required.

Should products be pre-dried before thermoforming?

This depends on the production date and storage conditions of the product before thermoforming. It is recommended to check the product before thermoforming is attempted.

How do I polish the edges of acrylic?

Acrylic edges can be polished by heating them with a torch, blowing hot air on them, or rotating a brush with wax.

Can the percentage of light transmission be controlled? I need a lot of light but I need it to be diffused.

Khodiyar Innovations offers various LT% parameters – from 0% to 90%. In addition, we offer a color called a “diffuser” that allows 85% of the light in while diffusing it by 100%. The result is a light-transmitting panel that is not transparent but is highly translucent.

Which materials can be used in the construction of my sign?

Sign faces are usually made from polycarbonate or acrylic. For extreme conditions such as heavy hail, low temperatures, or high temperatures produced when thermo-forming, polycarbonate is probably more suitable. For sign boxes or channel letter cans, PVC, multi-layered PVC and foam PVC can be used.

What is the most accurate white point that is suitable for wide-format printing?

There are different white substrates available but in order to achieve a true colored image according to the design, a process of profiling (ICC profile) needs to be done. By using a natural white substrate (a tint which been made with no extra additives), the process of measuring and profiling becomes very simple and fast.

How do I handle inkjet printable media before and after printing?

Before: use a protected sheet with PE masking, store unused inkjet printable media in original packaging and in a clean area, and avoid touching the print side by handling the edges of the sheet or by using lint-free white gloves.

After: avoid any finishing until prints are completely dry, store the printed media in a clean environment, and avoid dust from sticking to the fresh cured ink.

What can assure accurate double-sided printing or recto verso prints?

A strict spec of diagonal (from angle to angle) during the production process is feasible for this.
